Then and now...

Jan 24, Sienna is now 9 months. She is standing on her own and trying to walk and talk. The past 9 months have been amazing. Hard and difficult but rewarding. =)

the story...

IT'S A GIRL!

We just had our baby girl, she is beautiful but big at 7 lbs. 10 oz.  She came to us at 4:14 am on April 24 2007, her name is Sienna Jieun Lee.  Thanks for everyones prayers and support, we really appreciated it.  Hopefully we can post pictures soon.  She looks like her mommy.

<--- doesn't even begin to express how i feel about our daughter.
hello everyone, its meee!!! hyun has been updating with pictures here and there of sienna's birth and i just wanted to share with you guys (especially for those who are not in or near ann arbor) how this all went down.

april 23rd - 11:00am - clot comes out and i begin to think maybe i am about to go into labor.     11:30am - i begin to feel like i might have to pee, although i just peed. i ran to the bathroom but as soon as i get to the toilet a gush of water comes out and my water breaks. i tell hyun that i think i REALLY MIGHT BE going into labor. his reaction? bunch of nerves and becomes nauseated for couple hours...almost passing the street to the hospital.
12:30pm - i am finally settled in labor and delivery room after they confirmed that my water has really broken and contractions start. i handled all the contractions really well for about 5 hours...but then i found out that i had barely dilated to 3 cm in that time. i asked for a drug through the iv (which when they put in the iv, it was painful) but it only made me dizzy and sleepy...pain still getting stronger. after about another hour, pitocin drip was started to move along labor since my water was broken already and they wanted to prevent an infection.

an hour and half later i asked for epidural. i didn't think my husband would be able to stand watching me get it so i asked one of my WONDERFUL doulas to stay with me. the first numbing shot hurt a lot...they tried to give me the epidural....i felt everything and it was painful....didn't work. they tried again....the numbing shot hurt again and i felt the pain of epidural shot. this went on for about another 3 tries. i cried SOOO much during this and i thought the contractions felt better than the epidural. eventually they got it in and it was great...until 2:15am on april 24, 2007. epidural or no, when its time to push, it is PAINFUL.

the first hour of pushing was good, i somehow knew exactly how to push...however, she decided to come out face up, so i had to push another hour. with each contraction in the last hour, she decided to turn a little. so eventually the last hour (which was the WORST and most painful) she was coming out the right way. too late though, the last three pushes i screamed my head off (up til this point, i held everything in) and my doctor just pulled her out. i had high blood pressure and high fever the last couple hours, so i had two iv poles and about 6 bags of stuff dripping. i was shaking so badly that it was making me more tense. but when sienna came out, i couldn't believe it really happened. i had 2nd degree tears so i was stitched up and i finally got to hold our daughter for a minute.

then she was whisked away and i didn't get to see her for few hours for a total of 5 minutes. she was on oxygen, both of us on antibiotics, and so she didn't come to my room until the next evening. i have to say, i've been in a lot of pain, but it really is worth it. every time i look at sienna, i am amazed at how God gave us such a perfect gift. she gets prettier and cuter every day and she motivates me to become the best mom for her.

everyone -- there is NOTHING like the love that you have for your child. its the most beautiful experience and one that i would never ever trade for anything else in the world. i still can't believe she is our daughter and that God has given us the honors of raising her. it is worth all the lost sleep, pain, and all other hardships.

we also want to thank everyone!!! and also for everyone who visited us at the hospital and our home and for the cards. i am still bloated and fat.
